There is no denying, Jakarta streets are vibrant, spirited, challenging, in places grotty, as well as boasting natural beauty, often grid-locked and possessing mind-blowing extremes and contrasts. Jl. Terogong Raya in South Jakarta is no exception.
This stretch of road meanders from the far edge of Pondok Indah over two waterways and winds through Cilandak Barat to meet the bustling arterial rd Jl. Fatmawati (home to the ‘under construction’ Mass Rapid Rail Transport System, MRT Project). It possesses a wonderful, dynamic village vibe and welcoming atmosphere. Here on Jl. Terogong Raya, traditional Indonesian life and culture meets the modern face of Jakarta; where creative entrepreneurs seek to reinvent the way Jakartan’s eat, drink and shop.
Come with us as we uncover our 10 Top Spots for you to Stop on Jl. Terogong Raya. Here you can:

3. 25 Coffee
Since posting in 2015, 25 Coffee has closed. We recommend Woodpecker Coffee which is directly on the left of this spot at No. 34 Terogong Raya. Woodpecker is open from 7am – 9pm, serves an excellent brew, using local beans and delicious small bites. We also love the gift shop at the front of the cafe called The Good Things in Life. Shop here for beautiful local home wares and a small range of clothing.
25 Coffee is a newcomer to this retail precinct opposite Jakarta Intercultural School entrance gate. They are a very small local coffee shop with a very ‘cool vibe’ offering coffee sourced from Aceh. 25 Coffee provides indoor bench style seating as well as outdoor seating under the shade of an established Rambutan tree. Owner Gilang is the brains behind 25 Coffee. He is a young entrepreneur keen to serve the best quality Indonesian coffee on Jl. Terogong Raya. He encourages you to come on in if you are fighting traffic in the area. He’s open until late!
Jl. Terogong Raya No. 36 E

We drank: Cappuccino, iced latte and milk tea with ice
We took away: Cappuccino
4. Fineovan Tailor & Modeste
** Since positing, Pak Nana’s shop has moved to the back of the complex. Walk to the far left of the complex on Terogong Raya, down a narrow walkway, turn right and follow the path all the way to the end. You will find Pak Nana’s shop there.
Pak Nana works from a small shop two doors up from 25 Coffee. His sewing machine and work area look out onto the courtyard. Give Pak Nano a wave as you walk by. Most days you can see him at his machine as you travel along Jl. Terogong Raya.
Pak Nana offers a range of tailoring and alteration services. Including tailoring and alterations to shirts, dresses, pants and jackets. He will custom make kabaya, sarongs and batik shirts. Pak Nano also works with denim.

Best for: Manicure and Pedicure
We will return for: a very thorough pedicure. We opted for an ‘express pedicure’ which wasn’t very express at all. This is a bonus if you have time to burn – but not so good if you need it done ASAP. If this is your situation, make sure you clearly state that you have limited time before starting.

Best for: Almond milk and coconut water smoothies, cold pressed juice, wheatgrass shots, and fresh coconut water. A variety of grains (all organic) including red and white quinoa, rolled oats, corn semolina, rice flakes, millet. A variety of seeds and legumes (all organic) including sunflower seeds, pumpkin (pepita) seeds, flaxseed, chia seeds, green lentils. Virgin coconut oil, organic spelt flour, yacon syrup (a good sugar substitute for diabetics and those seeking a low GI sugar alternative), wheatgrass powder, white tea, sencha tea and Himalayan rock salt.
We drank: Almond milk Batcha (banana, macha green tea with bok choy added), a wheatgrass shot,(Ok so it tastes like a mouthful of grass…but the health benefits outweigh the farmyard taste) and coconut water fresh from a young coconut, a Raspbana smoothie (raspberries, banana, almond milk with added kale and chia seeds).
We took away: The remainder of the fresh coconut water (totalling two large glasses-full) and an apple, orange, carrot cold pressed juice.
On a second visit: Jo went ballistic and bought; Nepalese rock salt, cacao powder (a sugar-free hot chocolate for the kids), cashew cacao clusters (scrumptious guilt-free treats), organic tamari, organic corn semolina (we miss polenta chips!) as well as half a dozen soy candles.
Other Interesting notes: Bless management changed the music selection from jazz to the TOP 20 on KISS FM Radio. Since then they have seen a steady stream of teenagers ‘hanging out’ in the cafe over Almond Milk Smoothies and Coconut water straight from the coconut. Now that’s got to be a good thing!
