Loving Local, Buying Local and Supporting Local is a philosophy that has started to gain momentum in Jakarta, with social media being at the forefront of this message. Studies show that communities who support local, ‘encourage the uniqueness of communities, reduce environmental impact, create jobs, promote a sense of community and encourage local prosperity’.
With that in mind, we welcome you to our Loving right Now – Local EDIT.
Today we bring you a collection of our favourite local brands, artisans and products. This is our second Loving right Now feature, and in particular it focuses on; pieces and products that are handmade and crafted by both emerging and longstanding artisans, using modern and age-old techniques and natural materials from around the archipelago.
We believe that supporting and buying local where we can is a ‘good thing’. We like to choose pieces for the home that are unique to Indonesia, and are always curious to learn about the artisan and the story behind their work. Window shopping also provides wonderful opportunities for us to connect with the local people, their culture and unique communities.
We hope you enjoy today’s Home & Design EDIT. As always we enjoy hearing from you. Do leave a comment after the post or send us an email at email@example.com. We would love to hear your thoughts on ‘Loving Local, Buying Local and Supporting Local’ wherever ‘Local’ is for you.
